WORK EXPERIENCE
My name is Esther Maclure and I have been working in IT for over 25 years. At the start of my career, I gained valuable experience working within the Database and Web programming field and have worked as a Team Leader for a group of programmers developing both Visual Basic and Web front end databases.
I spent the last 18 years of my career focusing on IT support and Networking. I have experience of managing large computer networks and specialise in the Education sector. I have experience of setting up and managing Servers including Microsoft Windows NT to Windows Server 2003, Exchange Server 2003, ISA Server 2004 & SQL Server.
When I was a student, I decided that I wanted to learn how to build a computer and I built my first computer back in 1995. Since then I have supported, upgraded and fixed a number of different computers. I have experience of working with most Microsoft Windows operating systems such as Windows 7, 8 and most recently Windows 10 and 11.
In the last few years I have gained a huge amount of experience in supporting Tablet computers and smart phones - both Android and Apple.
EDUCATION
After leaving college I went on to University to study Computing and I gained a HND in Computing and a BSc Hons in Computing and Management.
Whilst working full time, I completed my Post Graduate Diploma in Computing for Commerce and Industry with the Open University and I have also attended numerous Microsoft Training Courses such as Microsoft Server 2003, Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft Windows.
"My old HP Pavilion laptop (10years + and counting) had really, really reached the end of it's life. The lid hinges were broken and distorted; the keyboard buckled and distorted; the keypad only 80% functioning; no sound or volume control; the battery completely knackered; flashing pictures across the screen etc and it really died when I emptied half a cup of hot tea on the keyboard. It had 21 years of my life and business stored on it. I passed the new Dell Inspiron on to Esther with the impossible request to salvage as much of the information from the old, battered HP, to transfer and update as required.....if possible. Less than 3 days later, to my absolute joy, Esther called to say that the new one was ready for collection. Unbelievable. It is all running absolutely perfect; no hic-cups. 100% all transferred. So thank you Esther, you are an absolute star. Many, many thanks for the speedy, very professional service. "
